Welcome to the third annual Pan American Food Festival
The largest Pan American Festival in Canada. We are very excited to return to Daniels Spectrum this year with a long weekend of flavour and fun, continuing our annual tradition of bringing you 41 different ways to savour food, enjoy music and dance, and celebrate our cultures.
Over the last two years we have been successful in showcasing the diversity of the Pan American countries in Canada, which is why this year we decided to expand the festival to 5 days and introduce the first annual Pan Am Music and Dance Fest, with live performances from over 30 artists, including Grammy-nominated musician Caloncho, and international dance performers.
Continuing with our annual food competitions, this year we’re introducing three cook-offs where chefs compete to win the audience’s favour by preparing different versions of Pan American favourites. These are: Batalla de Empanadas (Empanada Battle), Mas Masa Mexican Lucha Libre (Mexican Food- Lucha Libre Style) and Heladisimo (Ice Cream Competition). Our culinary curator, Mary Luz Mejía has also assembled a stellar roster of 25 International and local chefs including the winner of Master Chef Colombia 2015, Federico Martinez, whom will preparing a special food demo for the public.
Our host country this year will be Mexico, a country with one of the most diverse culinary histories of our continent. Furthermore we have a special performance from the Mexican Folk Ballet, showcasing the history of Mexico through dance. Don’t miss our daily musical performances and dance classes on the outdoor stage, our Pan American Parade on Saturday afternoon and our Bachata Night Concert on Sunday.
Your children will also be able to join in the fun with special activities in our Kids Zone where they can enjoy crafts while you browse our street market.
All this would not be possible without the support of our venue partner, Daniels Spectrum, our corporate and government sponsors, community partners, fantastic planning team and wonderful volunteers. With so much diversity and fun, we hope the Pan American Food Festival will become one of your favourite annual summer festivals.
